HARVEST CAFE 

NOW OPEN 


We received certification to open our vegetarian cafe on the 22nd of June.  Since then we have been going and growing!

The outdoor Garden Patio is open (when it stops raining) and we also have plenty of seating indoors and outside under the awning in front.

Some of our menu items are:  subs, salads, sandwiches, snacks, lasagna, eggplant parmigiana, pizza, samosas, entrees, plus pastries, such as cakes, muffins and cupcakes.

Friday night is pizza night, including Gluten Free pizza.

The cooks are there from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday.

NEW VEGGIE CAFE IN THE WORKS

We are in the process of putting in a new veggie deli in the old fridge room in the back.  We are applying for the permits right now, and acquiring the equipment we will need.  We're going to start with a few basic items like sandwiches, wraps, cupcakes, pastry, veggie burgers, smoothies.  It might take us several months to bring it all together.  It's a CAFE, not a restaurant.  We will have seating on the patio in the back, and a few more tables in the shop.

VEGGIE DOG COMING BACK!

The founder of Veggie Dog died in a climbing accident in Washington State last year, so the company went into hibernation.  They are now shipping Veggie Dog again and we're waiting for ours to arrive.  Woof!  Woof! to all our canine friends.

NEW SHOP MANAGER

The new shop manager is Yasmin Mohini   She likes to be called Moh, and is a 2014 graduate of Mt Holyoke College in Massachusetts.  Founder Jala is semi-retired, but occasionally works a short shift.

We Are Not a Cafe

Because the words "Whole Foods" appear in our title, people who view up on a handheld device often wonder if we are part of the giant Whole Foods chain.  For better or worse, we are a small family-owned, community centered shop on Main Street in Alachua.  We presently have lots and lots of natural and organic food and drinks; all are vegetarian and vegan.  We are not a restaurant, but are installing a deli.  There is no hot food available unless you heat it on our microwave.  We do have several tables inside and out if you wish to linger and snack, which we welcome.

40-FT FRIDGE UPDATE

As of October our 40ft fridge/freezer is working great!  The following lines are left here for historical purposes.  We'll be editing them out soon.

Our new 40ft fridge/freezer installation passed all inspections and became operational Tuesday April 23rd, ahead of target.  The mechanical engineers have had to come beck once already to tweak things, and they'll gave to come out again, but basically it's all done.  In fact, we've already run out of space in the fridge section and are at 85% capacity in the freezer.  It looks like we're going to have to start using the old 3-door fridge in the back room again.  What a revolting development this is!

UPDATE August 25, 2013:  the fridge/freezer is still running fine...but bad news is our electricity bill has tripled!  (Not only are the City of Alachua rates high for homes, but business pays a high tax on utilities that you ordinary consumers don't pay.)  The good news is the fridge/freezer is already full and overflowing.  As soon as the Summer slump ends we're planning on re-opening the back room and re-commissioning the three-door fridge as a produce-only fridge.  Nothing stays the same in the material world!  In Summer we cut back our produce deliveries from three per week to one, but we've already went back to two, and will go to three again shortly. (Note: we haven't got around to reconditioning the back room yet, but we'll get around to it soon...maybe.  Alachua wasn't built in a day.)
