We're working on establishing a self-serve cafe. We already have the tables and chairs, and we have a source for veggie pizzas and sandwiches. We've even got comfortable arm chairs! Next we need to acquire a convection/micro oven, for quick self-serve heating, and we're there. Should happen in February...watch this space!
UPDATE 5/5/13: We tested and researched this concept extensively over several months. In the end we decided that a cafe would be a diversion of our efforts. That is, it takes a lot of time and energy to run a shop well, and we don't have enough energy or resources to operate a second enterprise, and do it well. Therefore, we've had to allocate priorities. Up until a few days ago we had a lounge with comfortable chairs and a library, but we've had to dismantle that for the time being, because of the demands for space presented by the new refrigeration.
Our challenge in the shop is to keep the shelves stocked with products our customers want and reorder on a regular basis. Every day we receive major deliveries, and this is where our energy is focused right now. Better to do one thing and do it well, than to do two things and do them both poorly.
